Can my employer withhold my benefits for any reason?

Your employer can reduce your benefits if you cease to be employed because of a criminal, negligent of fraudulent act or omission, or forfeit your Local Government Pension Scheme benefits if you have been convicted of a very serious offence connected with your employment, provided the Secretary of State for the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister agrees to the forfeiture.
