Frequently asked questions
How can I trace my previous pension provider?
09:58, 16 Apr 2008The Pension Tracing Service (PTS) is a free service which aims to help people find pension schemes they have “lost touch” with. This may have happened because of a change in employment, or the name of the company may have changed. Whatever the reason, Pension Tracing Service may have the required information. They have access to a database of over 200,000 occupational and personal pension schemes and can be used to search for schemes and their up to date contact details.
Before contacting the Pension Sharing Service, please ensure that you have information available regarding your previous pension scheme. The more information the PTS get about a previous employer or pension scheme, the more likely it is that they will be able to find a current contact address. The minimum they need to make a trace is the name of previous employer/s or pension scheme/s.
You can contact the Pension Tracing Service by:
- Calling the PTS on tel 0845 6002 537 (Textphone 0845 3000 169) 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and they will complete the trace over the telephone.
- Calling the PTS and asking for an application form.
- Completing an online form at: www.thepensionservice.gov.uk/atoz/atozdetailed/traceform.asp
- Faxing the PTS on 0191 2182179
- Writing to PTS at:
