Frequently asked questions

What will happen to my deferred benefits after I leave?

14:06, 21 Feb 2008

Your deferred benefits will stay in the Local Government Pension Scheme until they become payable or until you decide to transfer them to another pension scheme. Your deferred benefits will be increased each year in line with the Retail Price Index so they keep their value. Details of the Pensions Increase rates applicable can be found on the Pensions increase page.

If you leave your deferred benefits with us until you retire, we will contact you automatically to arrange payment at the relevant time, it is therefore important to keep us informed if you change your address so that we can stay in touch with you and pay your benefits when they become due.

Full details can be found on the Change of address page.
