An employees’ short guide to the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) is available in PDF format for you to download or read on-line. This short guide provides information about the Scheme, including benefits you can look forward to, the cost of being a member and when your benefits are payable. We also look at some of the things which may worry you, like what happens if you fall ill, you're made redundant, or you die.For councillor members there is a dedicated scheme guide which is available on the councillors Scheme guides/leaflets page.
Please remember that this is only a guide, and deliberately uses simple terms wherever possible, and cut out much of the technical detail which appears in the regulations. However, it is the actual regulations which will be used in the event of any dispute or disagreement.

Scheme fact sheets/leaflets
We have produced a number of factsheets and leaflets that deal with specific aspects of the LGPS, which you may find useful.Most of the PDF documents have been designed as A5 documents to be printed in colour. If you want to print them as A4 size, set 'Page Scaling' to 'fit to margins' within the 'Handling Page' section of the print window.
