RIGHT trial of dyadic developmental psychotherapy (DDP)
Published: Tuesday, March 7, 2023

Children who are adopted or in foster care often experience psychological or relationship problems. Many services aim to help improve the child’s mental health and/or the family relationships. The Relationships in Good Hands Trial (RIGHT) is trying to find out which works best.
Some of the questions the RIGHT Trial will look at:
- Can we recommend better ways for social care and health services to work together to help adoptive and foster families?
- Can a therapy called DDP (dyadic developmental psychotherapy) improve the mental health of 5-12 year old fostered or adopted children?
- Is DDP worth the commitment families need to give to it – and the extra cost to the services that deliver it?
We are currently recruiting families in the East Midlands to take part – please get in touch to find out more: AdoptionSupportEvents@adoptioneastmidlands.nottscc.gov.uk.
