RIGHT trial of dyadic developmental psychotherapy (DDP)

Children who are adopted or in foster care often experience psychological or relationship problems. Many services aim to help improve the child’s mental health and/or the family relationships. The Relationships in Good Hands Trial (RIGHT) is trying to find out which works best.

Some of the questions the RIGHT Trial will look at:

  • Can we recommend better ways for social care and health services to work together to help adoptive and foster families?
  • Can a therapy called DDP (dyadic developmental psychotherapy) improve the mental health of 5-12 year old fostered or adopted children?
  • Is DDP worth the commitment families need to give to it – and the extra cost to the services that deliver it?

We are currently recruiting families in the East Midlands to take part – please get in touch to find out more: AdoptionSupportEvents@adoptioneastmidlands.nottscc.gov.uk.
