Governance and strategies

This section explains the governance and strategies applicable to the administration of the fund.

The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) in Nottinghamshire is administered by Nottinghamshire County Council.

The administering of the pension fund is delegated to the Nottinghamshire Pension Fund Committee and is expressly excluded from the delegation of authority to the Cabinet.

You can find details relating to members and the meetings of the various committees at:

Funding Strategy Statement consultation

The Nottinghamshire Pension Fund is consulting on its draft Funding Strategy Statement (FSS), which sets out the Fund’s approach to ensuring long-term financial sustainability. We are inviting feedback from participating employers, guarantors of participating employers in Nottinghamshire Pension Fund and other stakeholders.

The FSS sets out how employer contributions are determined, how funding risks are managed, and how we aim to balance affordability, stability and prudence.

You can view the draft FSS here. Since there are new requirements about what Funds must include in their FSS, you can see an employer briefing note here, to help you form your response.

Employers are due to receive the valuation results in December while the consultation is ongoing. This means employers can consider these as they form their response.

When submitting a response, please include “Funding Strategy Statement consultation” in the subject box.

Please email your comments and questions to lgpsemployersupport@nottscc.gov.uk by 5pm on Friday 2 January 2026.

For any comment we receive, we will tell you what changes are made to the draft FSS as a result, or, where no changes are made, we will explain why.

Nottinghamshire Pension Fund Committee is scheduled to consider the final FSS at its meeting on 12 February 2026. Following the committee’s approval, we will publish the updated FSS on the Fund’s website and send a link to employers.

Fund Strategies

The Pension Fund Committee has agreed a number of strategies for the fund.

These are revised as appropriate and the latest versions can be accessed from the links below:

Every year the Fund produces an annual report that refers to the strategies that were in place at the close of that financial year. The links below open previous versions of the key strategies that were in place in 2023-24 and are referred to in that year’s annual report:
